The Catholic church commemorates the Solemnity of All Saints and All Souls Day on November 1 and 2 (this is also the same time period Dia de los Muertos as much of what happens in that holiday is because of these catholic traditions). All Saints Day on November 1 honors all the saints and the feast of All Saints should inspire us with tremendous hope for among the saints in Heaven are some whom we have known. All lived on earth living lives like our own.
All Souls Day on November 2 honors the faithful departed and is a day of prayer for the dead.
I found this beautiful passage from Robert Benson’s Between the Dreaming and the Coming True and decided to create a print for these special days and all the year round to remember.
All of the places of our lives are sanctuaries;
some of them just happen to have steeples.
And all of the people in our lives are saints;
it is just that some of them have day jobs and
most will never have feast days named for them.
I hope you enjoy and peace be with you and your loved ones today, tomorrow and always.
